Who is the Strong Nations for Africa Programme for?

The programme is for senior public sector leaders with deep experience in governance and public policy, are passionate about improving national governance and would like to enhance their knowledge in public sector innovation and reform alongside colleagues across Africa.

Will I get a certificate upon completion of the programme?

Participants who have successful completed the programme will be awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment jointly issued by the Chandler Institute of Governance and the African Association for Public Administration and Management.

Do I need certain academic qualifications to be considered for the programme?

No. We do not consider academic qualifications in the selection process.

How much does the programme cost?

Confirmed participants will pay a programme fee of US$1,000 and cover their own costs of travel to, accommodation, and ground expenses in South Africa and Singapore. This fee covers part of the cost of organising and delivering the programme. The rest of the programme costs are covered by the Chandler Institute of Governance.  

What is the selection process like?

The selection process will take between 2-3 weeks. Applicants will be assessed based on their CV, written and video submissions. We are interested in understanding your leadership accomplishments, your understanding of government and policy issues, and your commitment to effect change. 

Can I apply if I am currently working in the private sector?

No. The programme is designed for public sector leaders in Africa.

How many in-person sessions will there be?

There are two in-person sessions which will be held in South Africa and Singapore. Each in-person session will be 5 days long.

How will the online sessions be conducted?

The sessions will be conducted on Zoom. We expect each online session to be between 1.5 - 2 hours long.
