Ngosa Chisupa
Ngosa Chisupa is a Fellow and Governance Expert with the Institute of Directors in Zambia. He is senior executive with a background in economics, social security and public policy. He has over 30 years of experience in leadership and consulting in the public and private sectors. He served in various public sector positions such as Presidential Advisor in the Office of the President, Permanent Secretary in various Ministries namely Labour and Social Security, Information and Broadcasting Services, Management Development Division in Cabinet Office, Director of Social Security, Special Assistant to the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry.
Over the years, he has been involved the design and implementation of various national programmes, namely the Zambia National Privatisation Programme, overseeing the implementation of the National Social Security Reform Programme, initiating the establishment of the National Digital Transformation Programme and establishing the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission. He has keen interest in addressing key public and private challenges and developing policies aimed as socio-economic transformation. He formerly worked as Project Manager with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the National Social Safety Net Programme during the implementation of the National Structural Reform Programme.
He has previously served on various statutory boards, pension funds, micro-finance companies and various national level, and committees. His experience and expertise spans the areas of corporate governance, organisational behaviour, development policy, social security and pension governance. Currently, he serves on the advisory board of the Southern African Institute for Collaborative Research (SAICOR).
At the international level, Ngosa has chaired high level international meetings at the International Labour Conference in Geneva and served on the ILO Governing Board. At regional level, he has chaired high level meetings of the SADC Committee of Experts on Employment and Labour and previously served as the Board Chair for the Southern African Social Protection Experts Network. He has led Zambia’s delegations to major Conferences at the African Union Commission on Employment and Labour, the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and African Regional Labour Administration Center (ARLAC).
He is currently serving as Lecturer in the School of Business at the University of Lusaka, where he teaches Organisational Behaviour at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. He is a certified and accredited trainer in corporate governance and has trained various boards in corporate governance, stakeholder engagement, governance of strategy, board practices and procedures. He has been involved in over 90 governance and leadership training events involving over 2,700 participants.
Ngosa is a Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholar who holds a Masters in Philosophy (MPhil) degree in International Development and Policy Management from the University of Tsukuba, Japan and an Undergraduate degree in Economics from the Tashkent Institute of National Economics. He has several professional certificates in corporate governance, enterprise development and pension management amongst others.
