Yoliswa Makhasi
Yoliswa Makhasi has served as a public servant in various roles till February 2025. Her journey in the public sector began in 1996, and she has since built a distinguished career through various operational and leadership roles, culminating in her last role as the Director-General of the Department of Public Service and Administration in 2020. Since March 2025, she is the Head: Public Service Reforms at the New South Institute – a policy think tank dedicated to addressing complex governance challenges in South Africa and the Global-South.
She has a Master of Philosophy in Coaching Management from Stellenbosch University, a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of Manchester (UK), and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Vista University. She has further enhanced her strategic acumen through certifications from esteemed institutions, including Wits University, GIBS, INSEAD, and the London School of Economics. Currently, she is studying for a Doctorate in Administration at UKZN.
Passionate about leadership development, women and youth empowerment, Yoliswa is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders, particularly young women. As a qualified Executive Coach, she leverages her extensive leadership experience to guide emerging leaders, fostering self awareness, growth and resilience.
