Nankhonde Kasonde van den Broek
Nankhonde Kasonde-van den Broek is an Executive Coach and Organizational Change Architect.
She is the Lead Consultant at Nankhonde Kasonde Consultancy, Founder and CEO at ZANGA African Metrics. A pioneer in the use of technology to develop affordable, accessible coaching and human capital development solutions for Africa. Solutions that understand and take into account the mosaic of cultural dimensions and the reality of an emerging market context. Solutions built from African norm groups and generating valuable data for decision making.
Following a decade working in international development and finance globally, she returned to Zambia to pursue her purpose and desire to contribute to her country’s economy and the wider African development agenda. Over the last 12 years she has coached over 800 clients, across 50 organizations, 7 out of the 10 provinces of Zambia and 7 other African countries. She has over 20 years of experience supporting multi-nationals, international organizations and Governments. She is an accomplished professional with a wealth of African, international and multi-cultural experience in designing and leading large-scale change across multiple sectors.
Nankhonde is an award-winning Executive Coach. In 2021 she won the coveted Thinkers50 Marshall Goldsmith Coaching & Mentoring Award. Thinkers50 is a global award that recognizes the management thinkers of our time, held at an event in London every 2 years. It has been dubbed the Oscars event of thought leaders in the field of Management. Nankhonde is a member of the Africa List; a group of future African Leaders in emerging markets. She is a Global Guru, World’s Top 30 Coach for 2021 & 2022. Nankhonde is a Marshall Goldsmith 50 Global Leading Coach and a member of the MG100.
She is currently working on collaborations to document and share historical, existing and new thought leadership on executive coaching in Africa. Her philosophy of ‘African cultural and context centered design’ in leadership development comes from her complex worldview and shapes her impact. Nankhonde is currently working on publishing her first book on one of her coaching models that uses Tornadoes as a metaphor for managing change and her contribution to a global publication on Executive Coaching was released in August internationally.
Nankhonde initiated the development of an informal network of professional coaches in Zambia, focused on developing professional coaches in Zambia and educating the market about the importance of working with certified coaches. This led to her pan-African work and the role of first board Chair of the Financial Sector Executive Coaching Advisory Board for Africa; now called the Africa Executive Coaching Council (based in Kenya) and a Founding Board member of the Africa Board for Coaching, Consulting and Coaching Psychology (based in South Africa).
She is a Board Member at the Lusaka Apex Medical University in Lusaka, Zambia. The first and largest private medical school in Zambia that is actively addressing the human resources deficit in the health system. She is a Board Member at Sanlam Life Insurance Zambia Ltd (Part of the Sanlam Group, South Africa) the leading life insurance company in Zambia.
Nankhonde is a graduate of HEC Paris Business School (France) & Oxford University (U.K) joint Executive Specialized Masters in Change Leadership. In addition, she holds an MBA specializing in Project Management from the African Institute of Management (Dakar, Senegal), an MSc in Management from the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi (Quebec, Canada), and a BA in Management from Webster University (Geneva, Switzerland). She is an Organization and Relationship Systems Certified Coach (CRR/Global) and a Stakeholder Centered Certified Coach (Marshall Goldsmith).
Nankhonde is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in Zambia and the Institute of Directors Zambia. She is a member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management and holds an Advanced Professional Diploma in Human Resource Management. She also holds a Diploma from the Zambian Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) in Technical and Vocational Teaching Methodology. She is a TEVETA accredited Trainer, Assessor and Examiner. She is fluent in English and French. She is married with 2 children.
